Management

Funmi Immanuel is the President and Creative Director of Ilé Ọba. She holds an MBA in General Management from the University of Hull.

I love classic style influenced by my Yorùbá heritage and expressed with a modern flair. I believe that people should express themselves through the way they dress.
Beading began in my childhood where I created pieces for my mother. I became interested in the production of aşọ òkè back in March of 2005. I quickly realised that practically all designs woven in aşọ òkè were largely geometric because of the limitations in existing weaving methods. Knowing that there is such a wealth of beautiful designs and unlimited variety of patterns that could be incorporated into aşọ òkè, this prompted my search for innovative ways of achieving this.  I continue to learn, develop and innovate and Ilé Ọba is the culmination of all my efforts so far.

I believe there is so much more to discover in aşọ òkè design and production. This is just the beginning....

Dapo Olufunso Immanuel, known to all as DC, is Director - Business and Corporate Affairs
I have spent most of my career in the Financial Services industry as a consultant even though I initially trained as a lawyer.  I have a keen interest in men’s fashion especially bespoke suits.  I have always believed that one should look one’s best always – simple but elegant – and I reflect this in the way I dress.

The journey to where Ilé Ọba is today has been a long and interesting one and I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.  With the technology now available there is so much more that can be done with aşọ òkè even in areas other than fashion and we look forward to exploring all these opportunities, thereby taking the rich heritage of aşọ òkè to new horizons...

Funmi and DC are married with children and currently live in the UK.
